I told you we were busy here today!

DeerFound mama deer at the back gate during lunch.  Her fawn was just on the other side of the fence.  Lots going on here today!

D2X with 300mm f/4.  Crop to square format and post process.

I see you!

We had a group of about 5 or 6 blue jays in and out of the oak tree in the front yard this morning.  One would pull an acorn from the tree then fly away to eat it as others would fly in to get theirs.  Very busy as the squirrels were working in the same tree and some doves hopped around on the ground picking up whatever they could find to eat.  And somewhere there was a stray cat looking to catch one of these animals, for breakfast I suppose.  A busy Friday morning in the front yard!

So I grabbed the D2X with a 300mm f/4 lens and shot a couple of frames.  It was tough trying to get any birds in flight with that long lens.  Too close.  I found this jay sitting in the tree watching me very closely.

Woods

Went for a hike yesterday around Harper’s Ferry, WVA and carried the G10 to shoot pics.  I really enjoy this little camera for days like yesterday because its small and easy to carry, inconspicuous, and gets great images.  For the Brunswick Photographers Guild I needed a picture of woods for the Sept. contest.  I decided I wanted to see the tops of the trees instead of the trunks like we always see.  Got the picture below, ran it through NIK Silver Efex Pro and Bob’s your uncle, here it is:

iShot

This is a fun picture I did on the iPhone and manipulated with an app called Tilt Shift.  The photography apps coming out for the iPhone are making it a really fun camera, perfect for someone like me who needs to be busy tinkering with something every waking hour.

Me and my shadow.

IMG_0410I haven’t ridden my bike in awhile.  Seems whenever I don’t ride for some time and then do, I wonder why I haven’t been riding because it feels so good to be out on the road in the fresh air.  Yes, fresh air, because I get to ride on roads like this:

IMG_0420Nice.

But this is what I felt like:

IMG_0419Now I’m heading out to scout a location for an upcoming shoot I’m masterminding.  More to come on that.  Have a great weekend.
